About Lupus and how it affects you
Lupus is an autoimmune disease that affects the body's immune system and attacks healthy tissue where It causes symptoms such as inflammation, swelling, and damage to joints, skin, kidneys, blood, the heart, and lungs. Normally your immune system makes proteins called antibodies in order to protect and fight against viruses and bacteria. Lupus suffering from lupus immune system are unable to tell the difference between bacteria and healthy tissue which leads to the the immune system directly attacking the healthy tissue. This causes swelling, pain, tissue damage, lung, heart failure and death.
